All-on-4®

A minimum of 4 dental implants are placed into the jaw supporting a fully fixed set of teeth.

What is All-on-4® or All-on-X?

The All-on-4® therapy approach may be extended to edentulous patients (missing all their teeth). A minimum of four dental implants are inserted into the jaw to support a complete set of fixed teeth. It is sometimes possible to install five or six implants when the jaw is broader. Hence, the designation All-on-X.

The benefit of this approach is the possibility to attach a set of teeth to the implants within 24 to 48 hours following their placement. Traditionally, it takes more than three months for dental implants to recover before teeth may be attached. However, because there are at least four implants in this case, there is greater support and teeth can be obtained sooner.

The advantage of having a full set of fixed teeth on dental implants as opposed to a full denture can be read about in our section for missing teeth.

Rrocedure sequence

At your initial consultation, we will explain the All-on-4® procedure and ensure that you are comfortable with it. A comprehensive examination of the implant site will be performed to establish the optimal treatment strategy. We will also collect X-rays and order a 3D CBCT scan to digitally design your implant.

At this appointment, any remaining teeth will be extracted and dental implants will be placed. At the same session, we will take impressions/moulds of the implants and test-try the new teeth. These impressions are then submitted to the laboratory so that final adjustments may be made to your new set of teeth.

This appointment is generally 24-48 hours after the implant surgery. We will insert your new set of teeth! Congratulations! Within 1-2 days you have now undergone an amazing transformation and have a new smile to be proud of.

These set of teeth are generally designed to last 3-9months and act as a long-term prototype or interim set of teeth while the implants and gums are healing. They are generally made from 3D printed acrylic as opposed to the final set which is generally made from ceramics.

This session is often scheduled three to four months after surgery, depending on the treatment plan. At this session, we take final impressions to capture the contour of the gums that have healed following surgery, and we can then begin the process of creating your final teeth made from ceramic.

Can they look even better? Yes! Your final set of teeth are now inserted and you can be the best version of yourself!
